XVP Leaving the List

Sister and Fellow VP players:

This will be my last post to vpfree under my real name. I regret to take this measure, but feel it is necessary for my personal safety.

As most of you know, I am not hesitant to post strong opinions about several issues, both related to VP and otherwise. In making my feelings known, I do not generally believe in hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet, but have been woman enough to put my real name to my beliefs.

Unfortunately, last week someone misconstrued one of my posts, and posted a personal threat to me. (This person, BTW, is not woman/man enough to post in her/his own name.) As far as I know, that threat was not carried out (or if it was, the authorities involved just laughed in the person's face). But given the nature of the individual poster and the increasingly repressive nature of the current administration in Washington, I find it necessary to go anonymous.

BTW, the individual involved was NOT RS. RS has contacted me privately on several occasions. Although he may have been argumentative at times (as I can be as well), he never crossed the line of decency to indulge in name-calling and making threats.

Several people sent me private e-mails of support, and I thank all of you.

I intend to open up a Yahoo account under a pseudonym, and join the list with that account. I will lurk for a while, and then post under the phony name.

When I make my trips to Las Vegas, I will privately e-mail the people I want to get in touch with and let you know when I'll be in town. I do intend to attend future vpfree lunches, but only Tom will know in advance which ones, as I do not wish to have this individual stalk me.

I really regret to take this measure, but for my own safety and peace of mind, I feel I have no choice.

It was fun being on the list in my real name. I have corresponded with and personally met some wonderful people. Too bad one or two bad apples had to ruin it.

Now everyone go out there and hit some royals.

You may make light of this, but Elaine makes a good point about the
current air of repressiveness. Look what's happened!
They burnt out a religious group in texas, killing many small children.
They always portray the opposisiton as extremists and racists.
They used the FBI to gather information on members of the opposition
party.
They attmpted to get congress to enact legislation that would muzzle
opposition viewpoints on radio.
Oh, wait...... I think that was someone else. But they are trying to
repress those poor misunderstood terrorists, aren't they? Good thing
they don't go as far as trying to get control of the borders. That
would be too much! Oh no! now I've been critical. I hope they don't
track me down! I'm changing my identity from TribbleSal to YourPalSal
so they won't find me.

Well, I couldn't get yourpalsal - it was already taken. No doubt by
those evil Republicans. So I got undercoversal. I bet that will
confuse them. It did me. I'm not sure if it's undercover Sal or
undercovers AL. An identity and gender conusion crisis!
