XVP JZs Alamo saga

I received a letter from Alamo's damage recovery unit dated 7/19/06. They state that a final list of damages may take an additional 30 days and that I should contact my insurance company and credit card company because 'Failure to report in a timely manner may void any coverage that you have'. I appreciate the warning but a timely manner warning from a company that took 18 days to tell me it will take 30 days to send me a bill just seems silly.

Also, they are expecting me to contact my insurance company befoe I even see what the amount of the repair is going to be. My guess is that Alamo figures insurance companies won't haggle over a relatively small amount ( less than $1000). Well, if that's their strategy, they are in for a surprise. I am crafting my reply to their letter. In it , I will ask for the rental car history of the vehicle I rented ( to make sure they don't rent it out while charging me loss of use) as well as their complete inventory of economy cars for the days in question. This should be interesting.
