Does anyone know if I can legaly sell tickets to shows or concerts
in LV that I don't want? What if I sell them for face value or less,
or more? If I am there at the time of the show, can I get into
trouble?
Thanks

I attempted to sell a pair of tickets to the NasCar Race just
outside the entry gates. I had a buyer with money in my hands when a
cop came up and TORE UP my tickets and had me give the money back. I
had sold the tickets for LESS than face value. The cop said, "you're
lucky your not getting arrested". So, I think it's illegal.

I wouldn't assume you were doing anything illegal just because of
what the cop did. Remember there are still some Nevada cops that
think card counting is illegal! (Of course, card counting is 100%
legal, while ticket reselling is only sometimes legal.) I have to
wonder if instead of you being lucky not to get arrested, perhaps the
cop is lucky not to be sued for abusing his authority and wrongly
destroying your property.
I found a couple of old links that address ticket reselling in Clark
County. If you had sold them for OVER face value by the gate, it
seems pretty clear that's illegal. If you sell them for face value
or less, it may be legal, unless they're saying you need a "business
license". One article says you CAN resell tickets for face value or
less outside Thomas & Mack.

After the dust settled, I read the back of my ticket stub and it
clearly states, "may not be resold within two hundred yards of the
gate". That was my downfall.
Thanks for the links and info.
After reading the articles I checked out the Clark County Code.
Here is what I found.
--------------------------------------------------------------
12.38.020 Ticket scalping prohibited.
Any person who, without the written permission of the owner,
operator or manager of the property on which an entertainment or
sporting event is to be held or is being held, sells a ticket of
admission to the entertainment or sporting event at a price which is
in excess of the price that is printed or endorsed upon the ticket
is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 1950 § 1 (part), 1997: Ord. 1156 §
1, 1989: Ord. 1032 § 1 (part), 1987)
---------------------------------------------------------------
It doesn't say anything about how far away you are, just that
selling the tickets for more is a misdemeanor.
So I will only sell tickets for the price on them or for less.
Thanks again.
