Not long ago I was sitting at a traffic light waiting to turn onto an
expressway. As I sat there, some scruffy lookin' dude in an even scruffier lookin'
car pulls onto the beginning of the on-ramp, parks it at the side, gets out,
and yanks a gas can out of the trunk (which he put on top of his "car").
Then he yanks out a piece of cardboard and turns to face traffic. "NEED MONEY
FOR GAS". I'm sitting there thinking that it was mighty damn convenient that
he already had that sign in the trunk, printed up and ready to go.....
