There has never been a poll on maid tipping.

I was going to suggest you check the polls for this group, but I see
that the results of the rather extensive poll on tipping have been
deleted. They might have been lost at the same time the Jackpot

polls on tipping so that we can what other people are doing, if
interested.

If you decide to poll on this subject, could you add one on valet
parking tips, specifically do you tip when you drop your car off,
when you present your ticket for your car, the actual person that
delivers the car...which produces the best service.

One additional tip query(poll?) how do you handle the fragmentation
of bellhop services e.g.: one guy takes your bag out of the taxi and
delivers it to the curb; another person checks the bag; and finally a
third person delivers the bag to the room!

As it is the custom to tip about 15% for dining services, I think it's one dollar per bag for bellman/baggage services. When going to casino's, I always take a stack of singles/smaller bills just for tipping purposes.

Well Nita you missed this one on dining. I was charged 20% for ten
people in a white tablecloth restaurant. The icing on cake..they
calculated gratuity on the total bill; sales tax added.

Dollar a bag works for me with bellman. However, at drive up, I'll
tip the guy who gives me the ticket if he helps me pull the bags from
the trunk. Only a couple bucks here. If I have no bags no tip.

Geeze, in Vegas if some casino worker says "Good morning" I guess you
have to tip a buck.

Cheers...Jeep

Bingo, for larger parties , the percentage does goes up and it's no longer your option to tip or not. With large parties, I've seen 18 to 20 percent as the standard. Many people do have a problem with this policy b/c many times the service is very much lacking.

By the way Nita I shouldn't have posted "you missed this one" I should
have posted....Let me add to your post.

One addition on this post; If the service is bad you can complain to
the matre'd. Tip should be lowered if service is bad. In the place I
was charged 20% on tip, matre'd offered to adjust tip. The reason
matre'd found out about, I jokingly mentioned on way out the
door, "hey, what the heck are you guys doing? I gotta pay tip on sales
tax? You will be adding 100% tip soon etc." I eat there a couple times
a month. The service was good. All was comp. I don't think tip should
be given on sales tax but I didn't care. You had to be there to
understand. I declined the offer. The point... if a complaint should be
made, do it. Sometime they want to know.

Cheers
.

No problem Jeep ! Think nothing of it, I didn't .

I would not think that it would be legal to add the 20% after sales tax. Only the total of the bill before the sales tax was applied. Maybe... Nevada law is different though. I guess you could check with Dept. of Revenue but you said it did not matter anyway in this case.

  Take care,
