I had a $5 slot machine that payed me one or two extra coins
everytime I'd cash out 20, 30 or more coins. The more I cashed at a
time the bigger the machine tipped me. However, I did the right
thing. I set all the extra coins aside. When I was done I called a
manager and gave extra coins back.

Wow. Did they offer you a comp because of your honesty?
I was at an Imperial Palace race book window and the clerk didn't clear the
previous payout of something like $300 from his machine so when I walked away
after using about half of my $20 voucher I looked at it and it was like
$310. I took it back and the clerk didn't even thank me.
Several years before that at the Los Alamitos Quarter Horse meet I made a
small bet, cashed out my presumed $18 voucher from the clerkless machine and
it read well over $300. My first reaction was to walk away. Then about five
minutes later I returned looking for the guy who lost the $300 to give it back.
He was there by the machine but was so angry I feared for my safety even
talking to him. There were no security guards around to protect me so I walked
away again, keeping the money. I never saw the guy again.
