As I watch full pay vp take its dying breaths, I have decided it is
time to learn some new games. A game of interest to me is Hold 'Em.
At this stage in my life, I don't plan to threaten the livelihood of
any top players, but I do wish to play proficiently enough to make a
little money and not embarrass myself.
I plan to pick up Bill Burton's book and would like to hear any other
suggestions on books for novice players. How about software? Should I
go with Turbo or is something else better for beginners?
Are there groups similar to vpfree and SHG for table poker or is
everyone using rec.gambling.poker or some other public list?
What about comps? What should I expect from six to eight hours of low-
limit play per day? If a husband and wife are playing can they pool
comps or play on the same card as we do in video poker?
Where should a beginning low-limit player play?
Any other comments or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
