xvp - Hello Dere review (at Gold Coast)

Marty Allen is back at the Gold Coast and boy is he funny! I roared with
laughter through his 10-15 minute "drunken wine salesman" routine - the
funniest comic routine I've ever seen. Bam bam bam - joke after joke - each one
with perfect timing and very funny - and you hardly have time to laugh in
between jokes. He also does a hysterical routine he calls "Florida" - with similar
effect on the audience, as well as some other great comic routines.

He is joined onstage by his wife of 23 years, Karon Kate, an excellent
singer. She probably fills a bit more than half the show. My only quibble, the
band was too loud -- so in this case you probably are better off a bit further
from the stage than where we were in row two. Hopefully they'll fine tune
this show and lower the volume a bit.

This show is well worth the $29.99 - making it one of the cheapest shows in
town. Allen is 84 now, but you wouldn't know it to look at him. He is proof
that 80 is the new 60.

With his impeccable comic timing and fast paced jokes, his material is truly
a laugh riot to behold. He is right up with there the greats of comedy,
like Burns & Allen (no relation), Milton Berle, and many others, many of whom
are now gone. This is your chance to see a great comic do his thing.

Interestingly, Allen points out that he likes to prove that comedy can be
funny, without 4-letter words or a lot of vulgarity. And this is so true!

My friends thought Karon Kate was also excellent. I personally really
enjoyed the numbers where she sang and played the piano (doing hits such as "Great
Balls of Fire"). We also really liked her Beatles Medley. She isn't the
world's greatest singer, but she is good, and full of energy, which really
enhanced her performance. She also acts at Marty Allen's straight man in the
routines (a part previously played by his partner of many years, Steve Rossi).

If you play at the Gold Coast (where you can still find lots of NSU by the
way), you'll get free tickets from their mailings. If not, the $29.99 price
is a bargain.

Go and enjoy. By the way, he is so funny, I noticed some people wiping
tears of laughter out of there eyes. He could make the weak of bladder pee too,
I suspect - so be prepared for some top rate belly laughs!
