(XVP) HARRAH'S - You've got to be kidding me!

All right - I can understand HARRAH's padding the old "My Offers"
page by listing an offer for 2 comp nights for a particular period
of time in Atlantic City (or wherever) multiple times (One listing
for each of their 4 hotels in A.C.) Makes it look like they're
giving me a lot of offers.

But now they've gone too far. I got a postcard in the mail yesterday
for the "Hexbreaker" Kiosk game at Caesars A.C. on Friday, Feb.
13th. Just be there that day, swipe my card (only once, I'm
assuming!) and I'll have a chance to win a 13X, 23X or 213X
Multiplier; OR 20,013 R.C.s; OR $13, $213, or $20,013 (How much ya
wanna bet the majority of "prizes" will be $13?)

I signed in to Total Rewards this afternoon and noticed that the
summary said I have 132 offers. "Hmmm. . ." I thought, "last night
I only had 124. They must have added on some room offers." Nope!
they have listed the Hexbreaker event 8 times. 4 times under the
CASH heading and 4 times under the OTHER heading. Each entry has a
separate CODE, they all show a START DATE of 2/12 and EXP DATE of
2/15 (as you'll see below, 'cuz I copied out the offer info). But
this is a one day event, on 2/13 for which I'll only be
allowed "one" swipe. What is the point of this? (Sorry -
rhetorical question! and yes, I will send an email to T.R. asking
the same thing, but of course I'll get a non-answer, so yes, I know
it will be a pointless exercise - but, it's a slow day at work - so
what the hell!!)

I get "multiples" also, but for Rincon (San Diego), not Atlantic
City. I currently have six offers for the same time period.

Even though they look the same there can be differences between the
offers. So you need to check the details for each one on the TR
website. For example, mine are listed as "Two Free Nights at Harrahs
Rincon". But when I clicked for details one of my Rincon offers
specified only a standard room, yet it included $200 food credit.
Then I clicked on another offer (valid the same time period) and saw
a much nicer two-room suite but no food credit at all. And yet
another offer showed no rooms as being available for the exact same
dates!

Sometimes the property will send you coupons in the mail for slot
credit, spa treatments, etc. so remember to take these along to get
the maximum value out of your trip.

Dear Mikeymic,

Thanks, I appreciate the info and the suggestions. The main area of
concern of my message had to do with the multiple listings in two
categories for a single, one-day event.

However, with regards to the comp room offers, I'm speaking about
instances where there are four listings for 2 comp nights for a
certain period. Here's the wording copied from such an offer:
Enjoy up to two complimentary room nights in Atlantic City, Sunday-
Thursday, 2/1/09 - 3/5/09. Exlcudes 2/15/09. Your choice: Harrah's
Resort, Caesars, Showboat or Bally's.

Notice the wording say "or". So, it's 2 nights within that period
at my choice of one of the four casinos (pending availability, of
course).

Each listing on the "My Offers" page has the exact same code #, but
one is for SHOWBOAT, one for HARRAH'S A.C., one for CAESARS A.C, and
one for BALLY'S A.C. As soon as I book the offer at one of the
casinos, the other three listings have check marks appear next to
them on the "My Offers" page indicating the offer is used. Now,
yes, I can call the 800 number and attempt to book 2 nights in
February at the other 3 casinos (so long as the dates aren't within
48 hrs. of each other) but I can no longer access them on the "My
Offers" page. So, this is only a "single" offer, but they list it
four times and count it as four separate offers. Again, padding for
appearances sake.

Here are the "14 new offers" I got this morning. (cut and pasted and
offer codes removed)I read each one and every offer is identical.

I don't think iti is padding. You can see offers at all properties but the staff generally at each property can only see your offers for their property.

Okay, that might explain the need to list, 4 times, a single offer of
comp nights - once for each casino (and each listing has the same Code
#). But that still doesn't explain listing the one-day kiosk swipe
event at Caesars on Feb. 13th - 4 times under the heading of "Cash"
offers and 4 times under the heading of "Other" (and in those
instances they've assigned just slightly different Code #s to each
entry). It's ludicrous!

I just had 21 Bette Midler offers show up. Seriously, they could just
put it up there one time per property instead of three times! You just
have three different nights to pick your show tickets and each has a
separate offer code, but all three offer codes are shown on each of
the 21 lines. Overkill.

OTOH, the same software feature that lets the "the staff generally at
each property only see offers for their property", could be made to
show the player, the same offer at different properties (being able to
be used only once) as essentially one offer, instead of showing a
bloating number.

You may recall my message of last week (heavily edited below) in
which I was complaining about "padding" on the "My Offers" page. I
did write to T.R. Customer Service. It's only been "officially" 3
workdays since I wrote and so I'm not surprised that I've not
received an answer as yet -

but, lo and behold, all 8 entries having to do with the Hexbreaker
Kiosk Game event have been removed from my "My Offers" page. I'm
curious as to whether anyone else, who had received the post card
and on-line offers, has also had this event removed from your
current list of offers. Curiouser & curioser!
