XVP - Hard Rock Summer Concert Series

I have no experience with Hard Rock events. I found out that
Collective Soul is playing poolside at their Summer Concert Series on
September 5.

Tickets aren't on sale yet, but I went to the Ticketmaster website and
it appears that there are two levels for most poolside events --
around $30 and then $300!!!

Does anyone know if the $300 tickets are some sort of VIP thing where
you actually get to SIT somewhere (instead of Standing Room Only) and
maybe meet the band?

Collective Soul is my favorite band. We've seen them in Vegas three
times in the past three years (comped). I'm too old to do the SRO
deal, though.

Any info y'all might have would be greatly appreciated!

Rock show where you sit?? That's a contradiction in terms (if you
want to see anything, that is

No doubt, though, we're in the same boat ... where the need to rest
your heels once every twenty minutes or so is an unpleasant
acknowledgment of solid middle age. We recently were offered SRO
tickets for a Borgata show (AC) featuring Cindy Lauper and the B-52's
(HRC benefit). Rejecting them made for a very sad day.

LOL -- I'm too FAT to do that!

Yeah, unfortunately even if you have seats people will stand up in
front of you. I'm just not a crowd person and wouldn't enjoy having to
fight in a sea of people to try to enjoy the band.

I guess we get much pickier about these things as we get older. lol

I've only been to one of these this year, but went to many last
year. My guess is that the $300 ticket gets you a cabana (remember
that the concert is at the pool), so you would have someplace to
sit. If you show up early and do not have a cabana they have chaise
lounges all over the place and can stake your claim to one of those.
I doubt those $300 tickets include meet and greets with the band, but
I don't know for sure as I have never purchased a ticket. Last year
I had a friend that had a cabana for about 6 or 7 of these shows and
the cabana always came with one bottle of a sponsor liquor (more on
this sponsor liquor thing later). I never felt the cabana was worth
it, but I like being in the crowd, so your tastes may differ. Also,
since we haven't had a cabana for any of the shows this year, I don't
know if you still get the free bottle.

Personally, I wouldn't even buy a ticket. If you go to
www.spyonvegas.com, you can create an account, log in and print out a
free ticket. They say that these tickets do not guarantee admission
as space is limited, but I've been to over 10 of these and have never
had a problem getting in. Also, like all spyonvegas events there is
a sponsor liquor that is free until they run out. So far this year
every Friday pool concert had some flavor of Stoli being the free
booze.

Just FYI, this Friday it is Smash Mouth and Stoli raspberry.

Thank you VERY much for all of that info. It is MOST helpful!

You're welcome. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I
can't guarantee I'll have the answer, but you never know. I hope you
enjoy the show!
