Neteller indeed requires SSN's for new signups. In the past, giving
them a SSN was not required. This is not their choosing, it has
something to do with the Patriot Act.
Here is what they REALLY do. On the application, one is asked for only the
last four digits of ones social security number. Then, after submitting the
application, an error message comes up stating that one needs to call an 800
number. At this point, the associate tells the potential customer that the last 4
numbers of their social security numbers is not coming up with the same name in
their database and the entire social security number is required. As I stated
in my second post about this matter, this happened not only to me but to a
friend of mine on the same day and my friend was told that "told how this was
"very unusual" for them to have to do."
Besides, they are located in Canada. Don't they govern themselves? What does
our Patriot Act have to do with their financial institution?
