Does anyone have any recommendations of good spots from which to remotely
watch the New Year's fireworks over the Strip?

I love explosions but hate massive crowds. I'd prefer to stay on the east
side of town.

I was thinking maybe along Sunset adjacent to the airport.

Several years ago I was driving the company car back to the office about
11:30 on New Years Eve. I drove along Sunset by the airport and in the little
industrial and business areas all places to park a car were full. The view was
not so hot either, too far away. I jogged further south, got on 215 and off
at Decatur. Right by 215/Decatur, and further north a few blocks, the sides of
the road were crammed with cars. Back at the office, near Polaris and Spring
Mountain, I arrived just in time to see the fireworks for most of the Strip
about three blocks away. So I would suggest the west side of town, maybe
arrive early in the evening at the Palms, Rio, Gold Coast area, park, eat or
gamble and walk to the east side of the Rio. Further west, like Rainbow, would
give about the same quality view as along Sunset but maybe less traffic hassle.
But who knows, there are so many more people living here since then.
