XVP - Exercise -- Everyone can Participate

The Atlantic City Marathon will be Sunday, October 15 on the
boardwalk. In addition, to the marathon there will be a Half
Marathon (13.1 miles), 10K Run (6.2 miles), 5K Run, Maria Berenato
Kugel 2 mile walk, Freda Spano Free Kids Fun Run.

I ran my first 10K on July 4 and plan on doing the 10K for the
Atlantic City run. I am hoping that other video poker players will
join me. As some of you know, I am fat, old and slow. But
participating in a 10K gives me a worthwhile goal and keeps me going
to the gym. You do not need to run the whole 10K and I doubt that I
will – you can walk/run whatever part that you want or walk the
entire race. My goal is to do it in about 75 minutes. If you walk
the whole race, you should be able to do it in a maximum of two
hours.

Bob Dancer has set one of his goals as running a 10K in less than an
hour if you look at his article of June 27. Maybe we can encourage
him to use the Atlantic City race as a prep.

This is something that everyone can participate in and if you cannot
run the race you can always sit on a bench and cheer us on. The
race is a loop so we would go past you twice.

If you want to start getting ready and have never done anything like
this, I will be happy to share tips and give some advice.

For additional information and entering, here is the link:

Perhaps we can get together for a group picture before the race
start and/or dinner the night before or lunch afterwards.

If you decide to participate in the race or want to be a
cheerleader, let me know and I will start a group distribution
list. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I hope we have a gigantic group of video poker players (and friends)
on October 15.

After the heated discussions on the Short Term Strategy, which
acquired quite the patina of a How Many Angels ...., this is a welcome
respite.

I have no delusions as to my ability. Suppose I would like to practice
from now until middle of October. What should I be able to do right
now, which with the practice would give me a sporting chance of doing
it at least half-the-way. I guess I am not out to set any records.

There being about 2-1/2 months from now to the event, let's call this
a Short Term Strategy for the event!

So, is there a Short Term Strategy?

A Myth
