Subject: xvp "ethnic reference" was Re: Smoking Rant over and doneI wonder how many would have been offended had the chief said "Dirty
Jew" or "Dirty N*****"? Maybe offending a person of Asian ancestry
carries less weight than someone of Jewish or African ancestry in
this group? Since only myself and Frank objected to the slang I have
to wonder.WW
Since it was a smoking topic I used the "Page Down" button to skip past most
of those posts & didn't notice until you brought it up then went back to read
it.
I'm Chinese. I would have been offended at the time.
Given the habit of not reading or posting for days at a time, I was able to
follow the thread with some hindsight.
It was bad judgment on Chief's part but he made a sincere apology and I'd
suggest we forgive him his mistake and go on.
If smokers were an ethnic group, I think worse things have been said about
them. (I'm not a smoker, drinker, carouser but have recently become a swearer
as I count down the number of 4-card royals which disappear into the ether.)
