Perhaps you are correct, although we were

specifically told that our PASSPORTS were required for entrance to
both Canada & Mexico as well as return to the US from either country.
Were I to go again, I would certainly take my passport.

I do also think it would be prudent to check with an official
Canadian agency for a definitive word on the latest regulations.
