XVP: Downturn Affecting VPfree?

I don't see why a game is called "full pay" just because it has the highest pay-scale available. I used to love 8/5 bonus poker when 9/6 JOB wasn't available. The loss rate on 9/6 JOB is (100 -99.54)% or .46% or .0046. The loss rate on 8/5 bonus poker is (100-99.17)% or .83% or .0083. In other words, if you have great skills and average luck, you will lose almost twice as fast (or twice as much at bonus poker compared to JOB. (.0083/.0046) = 1.8+ Translated into dollars, this means that if you lose $200 playing 9/6JOB, you will lose over $360 playing 8/5 bonus poker.

It appears to me that Louis's figures do not take into consideration
anything like comps, cash back, or other promotions. If those things are
included in the calculation, then his statement ("....you will lose almost
twice as fast....") is not entirely true.

We did a poll on the "full-pay" designation in 2007:

This has been discussed many times here, over the years.

The simple answer is that much VP terminology and semantics is "historical". It seldom had anything to do with the EV.
