XVP - Culinary Workers & Bartenders Unions Authorize Strike

This evening, in a current issue of a travel managers trade magazine
for Western meeting planners, I came across a short article which
alarmed me. The article stated that unions, representing more than
8000 laundry, culinary workers and bartenders had authorized a
strike. While negotiations are still ongoing, if the workers follow
the lead of the union officers, and vote to authorize a strike, all
of the downtown hotels will be affected.

These hotels include the Golden Nugget, The Plaza, The Fremont, Main
Street Staion, Four Queens, Fitzgeralds, Binions, El Cortez, Vegas
Club, Western & th Golden Gate.

I was amazed that I had not heard about this previously on this or
any other forum.

Does anyone have anyone have up to date information on this
potential strike? If so, do you know the pertinent time frame?

Thanks!

I read the Las Vegas Sun (lasvegassun.com) business and gaming
news. They generally have the best, most prolific and up-to-date
gaming news of any newspaper I know of. I haven't caught a thing
about a servce workers strike. It could just be some saber
rattling.

It was covered in the RJ for many days. I think they settled within the last week.
