XVP: Cruises

I know this is off topic, but I also know that a lot of you have done cruises, either just because you like them or because you've received cruise offers from casinos.

My wife and I are considering our first cruise for late April or May of this year. Thinking of a 5 or 7 night Caribbean cruise, but right now, the 7 night cruises that hit Belize, Honduras, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman are winning.

I'm looking for advice on which cruise line might be the best fit for us. We are both in our early 30's, and our #1 and #2 considerations on any vacation is good food (#1 Dining) and good relaxation (#2 Relaxation).

Carnival have the best pricing. I found that 7 night itinerary for $450 pp, plus taxes. But NCL and Royal Caribbean have pricing that's pretty close ($550-650). I've seen some deals on Celebrity as well, but for different itineraries.

Also, I've been looking directly with each cruise line for best pricing, but I'm open to suggestions for internet booking and/or travel agents in Las Vegas to consider if it might result in a lower price, etc.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback that anyone could offer from a food/relaxation perspective on any of those cruise lines, and feel free to email me directly since this isn't really VP related.

Thanks!!

ALL Cruise ships have rotten VP payouts. If you get excited by 6/5 JOB, you'll love playing them.

So if I get bored on a cruise I'll put in $10 in a nickel machine, never more than that.

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback re: my cruise questions.

To save on travel expenses to/from port (airfare to FL was over $1000 for two!!), we just booked a 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise departing from Los Angeles (with $29 airfare from LAS to LAX) on Princess (Sapphire Princess). Booked for $1300, inclusive of all taxes, etc., via Expedia, plus got a $75 onboard credit. In addition, I found the cruise for $1216 on another site, and Expedia is price matching, plus offering an extra $50 voucher good towards future travel, via their best price guarantee.

We also had the choice between the Carnival Splendor or the Norwegian Star for the same date range. All the cruises were within $100 of each other, price wise, but research and the consensus of the feedback I received said that Princess had the best food and R&R experience for the money.

I'm not looking for good VP, as I know that cruises have nothing to offer in that department. Living in Las Vegas, I get plenty of VP when I'm NOT in vacation!! LOL. But, hopefully, we will have a great time. We're certainly looking forward to it!!

In the meantime, if anyone has any tips they'd care to share for first-time cruisers who will be visiting Cabo and Puerto Vallarta for the first time, then I'd be happy to hear them!!

Am going on the NCL Spirit out of NOLA in Aug and will get these for everyone in my group if others have used them with success. Horrible VP played at the bar mostly for free drinks......

thanks for any info

Scot (or anyone) have you used these coupons? They seem to be sold by a third party type group. Just wondering what the restrictions on them are? not much listed.

There is a whole discussion on Cruise Critic about these coupons. Many of the board members have reported back with success.
