Does anyone have any idea what kind of theo number most casinos use
for BJ play?

I don't have strong experience in this area but my sense is that most
houses allow nothing more generous than 2%, and in many cases as thin
as 1%.

Not surprising, since the basic strategy that will generally keep the
house edge under 1% is pretty simple and table players tend to be a
more savvy lot.

I'm not sure what you're saying here.

For a point of reference, before the "6/5 payoff for naturals" infected the
scene, most BJ games gave the house an edge of less than 0.5% when
the max-EV strategy was played, and single-deck games with an edge
of less than 0.2% were not hard to find. Casinos occasionally offer BJ
rules that favor the player.

BJ games with a house edge greater than 1% used to be extremely rare.

Steve,

The 2% figure mentioned was the casinos' estimate of their
theoretical win rate from a "typical" non-basic strategy player for
calculating comps and such.
