I have a friend coming to visit next Thursday. He likes to play
blackjack. I really don't play it. Any suggestions on the Strip or
downtown where they have a good game for him? I'd like to find
someplace that comps rooms fairly easily so perhaps he can get
established for future room offers with only a day or two of play. Any
suggestions? He's already staying at the Stardust. Thanks.

Strangely enough, some of the best "low-roller" action is at Circus
Circus. Buffet/coffee shop comps are easy, and given the usual price
of the rooms, I wouldn't expect a room comp to be too hard to get.
Downtown, try the Plaza or Four Queens. Plaza has good low-roller
games, and Four Queens has been easy with pit comps in my experience.
For whatever reason, all the locals casinos suck when it comes to pit
comps for BJ play. (Also the big Strip joints---but that's no surprise.)

Then he may be staying at the right place. Unless things have changed, they deal a good double deck game. Comp requirements are explicit on their site. Offers come regularly for established players. The hotel is being maintained and facilities are generally good. They have sent out discounted room offers through e mail for simply signing their guest book at the website. They may still. They also at one time had online slot card signup that might generate discounted offers as well.

I will chirp in. I was at LVC in April after Barrick, the new
owners, got the keys. LVC was still dealing the traditional downtown
rules on the single deck games. They were using auto shufflers and
funky backed bridge style cards, but still the .17% vig.
If your bud can play green they will track him towards that "Pass"
program. If he is red chip (like me) it still is a fun spot with
decent cocktail service (love those cheerleader outfits) and the
downtown crowd.
The slurpy machines were gone though. I could not get a Mudslide
Brain Freeze.

Thanks for all the tips and advice. I actually did have him play the LVC
for a short time on a previous visit and he liked it. What about the
Golden Nugget? I was thinking of taking him there.
