You know we all forget that there was actually a person behind the
gaming empire of Harrahs. There are a few old time gamblers here, and I
was wondering if anyone remembers Bill? At one time Harrahs and Harolds
Club were the gambling places in Nevada, and we are now talking about
Reno, not Las Vegas. Las Vegas was the minor leagues back then.
I remember as a kid going to the famous car collection that Bill Harrah
had, and seeing Bill drive around in some rare Stanley Steamer or such.
It made quite an impression on a young kid back then. I can also
remember eating in Harrahs, and hearing over the PA system: "Bill
Harrah line 2". I also remember gambling in Harrahs on my 21st
birthday, and getting carded! Oh, the memories.
I don't know much about him, other than he had 6 wives, including
Bobbier Gentry (less than a year). Anyone remember him, or is everyone
here too young?
