A friend came to LV for a conference and we had the lunch buffet with
him at the Bellagio today. Since I'd been to the Wynn Resort buffet
last Friday, it was easy to compare them. Lunch at Bellagio costs
$17.95 compared to $19.95 at Wynn Resort.
Food wise I thought they were roughly comparable. I give the Wynn
Resort the edge, but my wife thought Bellagio was better for the food
she prefers. But ambience wise, it is no contest ... Wynn Resort is
the clear winner. The Bellagio buffet has been open for some years
now, served thousands every week, and it shows. Were those carpets
we were walking on, or food residue? The place just looks worn out
and in need of a redecorating job. Wynn Resort, on the other hand,
is brand spanking new, clean as a whistle, and no visible wear. The
colors and atmosphere are much nicer, especially in the atrium.
If you want to impress a visitor, take them to the Wynn buffet. IMHO
By the way, for Mothers Day we went to the Rampart buffet ($14.95).
That was a real bargain! But it sure was crowded. We had a long
wait. It seats about 600, and assuming a one hour stay per party, my
guess is nearly 7000 people pigged out there on Sunday, and I do mean
pigged out. They must have consumed 25% of Alaska's total crab
catch for the year! How big a freezer does that place have? Maybe
they had refrigeraton trucks parked in back. All things considered,
the food was pretty good, but their dining area looks very worn
too. After 3 buffets in 4 days, it's time for Subway!
