XVP.. Bellagio Million Dollar Slot Progressive

Just returned from six nights at the B.

Anyway, I came across a bank of 5x5 slots that were attached to an in house progressive that at the time was just over a million dollars. This progressive resets to $75,000

Two different teams had each taken over half of the machines. Each was bankrolled by one individual who was paying people ( locals) to play these machines 24/7.

I talked to one of the leaders, a nice Australian fellow who lives 2 months a year in LV. I asked him if he felt that this investment was a positive expectation.
He gave me a weird look and merely said that he felt that it was a good deal. He informed me that a team from England had unsuccessfully tried to bring the JP down and had left when it was at $945K and that's when he jumped in.
He and an assistant who relieved him for some sleep time, kept records of smaller hand pays etc. Of course all the machines had players cards in them. One side "Gary" the other side "Rafael"

Night after night, day after day the two "bosses" watched their individual players .
Food via room service was wheeled to these machines and the chairs had been removed so the players could easily move up and down the row.

Needless to say, at times this action drew some nice crowds.
Bellagio mgmt. didn't seem to mind at all.

Early Tuesday morning the Australian's team ( Gary ) hit it !! JP was over $1.3 mil.

  Larry Feldman

It went up about $50K/day with 10 machines in constant action
$3/pull? x ~3000 pulls/hour x 24 hours = $200K/day action/machine/day x 10% hold = $2K hold/machine/day x 10 machines = $20K day/hold.

No wonder casino suits didn't mind.
Resets at $75K so maybe not $3/pull?
Just another day at Bellagio?
They didn't let you play?
Would you have taken 10% of net win or $10/hour?

They are 3-coin 5$ machines.
$15 per pull.

Simultaneously there were some AP's playing the
Top Dollar 2-coin 5$ progressive that is linked
across MGM properties. I last saw it Sun. night
and the JP was $345K.

That was a fascinating report on the progressive, however, 6 nights at Bellagio seems worthy of a trip report in it's own right!

I stayed there a mere single night last month, reintroducing myself to the property after a 10 year absence. (It once was our favorite LV property, but after they pulled $1 jb, play simply became a little too pricey for our bankroll!)

I found I'm still in love with the property, but came away with one curious observation:

I opted for dinner at Prime Steakhouse, which served up an excellent dinner, but one that paled compared to the price tag. We're talking $84 for a bone-in filet, $12 for the potato, $12 for sauteed mushrooms, and $16 for the salad.

Those prices put the restaurant on par with one of the finest steakhouses in Philly (Barlcay Prime), and frankly Bellagio's "Prime" doesn't hold a candle to it.

Wow, resets at $75K. $15/pull @$75K jackpot sounds kind of lame.
Guess you have to be patient.

There's a picture of Elliot Shapiro hitting a progressive slot at NYNY back in the day. Shapiro would work for the comps. Loved his comps.

After seeing the picture, used to keep eye on NYNY carousel.
Always checked the progressive albeit didn't have a clue how to figure when it was a "positive expectation" Still don't.

Playing with own money was 25 cents FPDW for Elliot. "penny a hand"
