XVP-Article in today's paper about downturn in Harrah's and Boyd profits
Some of Harrahs problems stems from the hassle of
boarder crossing at Detroit, the nonsmoking laws (they
do have smoking Rooms) and the rate of exchange has
gone the way of the Dinosaur. This along with their
tight machines policy does hurt their bottom line.

When discussing the hassle of border crossing, it's just too tough for
me to go play a marginal pick'em play, knowing Customs is going to
secondary me and search me and my car. The tunnel crossing is just the
worst, it's been that way for years, the ICE agents are more
interested in taking your dough than protecting you from terrorists.
They search pretty much everyone who gambles for any money in the
hopes you won't declare >$10K so they can seize your dough. It's just
a joke. The Canadians have gotten more difficult as well.
The other issue is while VP pretty much sucks in Detroit, save for one
or two minor plays, and the marginal PE stuff at Windsor, at least MCC
and MGM have spruced up their product-first class rooms, and in MGM's
case, some great restaurants.
