XVP: Are Women Treated as 2nd Class Citizens at Silver Legacy Reno?

I just had a disconcerting experience with the Silver Legacy in Reno, and I'm wondering if my experience was an anamoly or if the Silver Legacy treats women as second class citizens. Here's what happened:

About six weeks ago, my husband and I were in Reno. On two separate days, we each joined Club Legacy, and on the days that we each joined, we did about $20k coin-in on the new account. (That is, 2 people, 2 separate accounts, $20k each = $40k total.)

Starting about two weeks ago, my husband began getting mailed offers from the Silver Legacy, but I have not gotten anything. Tonight, I called to see if by chance, my address was not in the system correctly.

I spoke with Agi Carrillo, (female) Executive Host, who told me that their system only sends out mail to ONE person in a household. When I told her that my husband and I have separate accounts and do not always travel together, she told me that that's how they do things there – and said that I could book my husband's offers (which are labeled, "NON-TRANSFERABLE") by having him call to book the offer and tell the person making the reservation that I have his permission to use his offer. When I then questioned her about the ability for me to book my own offers that I should be getting, she said that my offers would be under my husband's name and would require his permission for me to use them.

PERMISSION? Are they for real? Does the Silver Legacy believe that women aren't entitled to have assets (such as comp points) in their own name??? Do they believe that women "shouldn't worry our pretty little heads" about things like money???

So, here are my questions. Am I the first person to be discriminated against (on the basis of gender) by the Silver Legacy – or is Agi providing misinformation? Also, I was under the impression that it is illegal in Nevada for a casino to force spouses to have linked accounts (because of the equal property statutes)? So, is the Silver Legacy breaking State law (in addition to breaking Federal anti-discrimination laws)?

  I welcome hearing everyone's stories.

Blatant sexism, nothing less. I have the same thing at MSS, the offers are always in the wife's name. Lucky for me they do let me stay on her offers by asking her permission though.

I really don't see this as sexism. Only one person per household gets
offers. Unfortunately for you, it's your Husband! Now it IS a stupid
rule!

Perhaps, you should have your husband's card cancelled and that would
leave just you in the computer. Then all the offers would be in your
name. Your husband could use your card when he plays. Or, change your
address to a work address or a neighbors or friends. That would work
also.

Maybe it's just me, but I ALWAYS ask my wife if it's OK to go to Vegas
or Reno without her, regardless of who the offers are under

If only one person per household gets offers, that should be in their policies and rules; it's not. Again, they can do whatever they want, but they should not collect sign-ups under false (and fraudulent) pretenses.

As to your other point, of course spouses should talk with one another about vacation and money matters. My hubby and I do talk about these things. That isn't the point. The point is that a corporation shouldn't force one member of a household to be subservient to another. It really doesn't matter if it's the man who ask to get his wife's permission or vice versa. Either way, it's WRONG.

I agree. Casino's do a lot of things that are either wrong or at best
not very logical (like the daily average for instance).

Still, it isn't hard to fix the problem. Just give them another
address and the problem is solved (I use my work address for some
casinos). Or as you suggest, visit another casino that have better
mailing rules.

I do however disagree with you about being subservient. That is not
the case at all. If you want to use your husbands offers you should
have his permission. I don't see anything wrong with that! The fact
that they do not send you your own offers (and don't explain this
clearly) is really the problem.

Let's not make this a repressed women issue (as the title would
indicate). It's a stupid casino rule, not telling the truth issue!
There are plenty of legimate repressed women issues out there without
mudding the waters.

If you were (or are) black or asian would it be a race issue as well?
