Around 4pm on Sun. Sep 7, I was 15 miles south of Baker on I-15 to LA and was in a endless traffic stall. I heard two semis crashed and closed both sides of I-15 just north of Barstow which was still 25 miles ahead of me! I turned back to Baker and went south thru backroads to Kelso/29 Palms and my 5.5 hour trip took 8.5 hours.
Anyone get caught in the jam and how long did it take you to get thru it? Thanks.

I love that route. I usually use the Nipton exit to get to 29 palms and gets me to Palm Springs in 3 hours from Las Vegas. Using Nipton also helps you get past the traffic after Primm, which can be quite bad even without any accidents.
