How long does the greyhound take from LA to Vegas? Where do you catch it in
LA--that maybe more dangerous than the bus station next to Plaza!! If you are
comfortable with a bus, I understand there are charters to Vegas from
California. However, I have no further information on this. If you haunt the sites for
flights you can often find a flight from LAX or Burbank to Vegas for a
reasonable sum.

One other thing--about the Plaza parking lot--if you get out of the station
the walk at any hour of day from there to the Plaza is a matter of feet, but
you do have to be aware. I like downtown--but I always warn folks that it is a
place where you need to have your eyes open particularly in the slow hours of
the morning.

LA to LV on Greyhound takes 6 to eight hours depending on if it is an
express bus or local run. Roundtrip fare on Greyhound is normally
double the one-way fare. But for some reason this is not true on the
LA/LV run. One-way is around $48 and round-trip is around $58. There
are lots of buses making this run; somewhere around 15 or twenty a
day, leaving at all hours of the day or night. The LA Greyhound Bus
Station is at 1716 E. Seventh. They also board at other stops like
Riverside. I think some of them drop off and [pick up on the strip. For
more information call Gracie, Greyhound's virtual travel consultant at 1-
800-231-2222. All Greyhound bus stations have security these days.

You can pick up the Amtrak to LV anywhere along the Amtrak line. I chose Irvine to get a rate-$88 RT senior over 62. The train takes you to the LA station and then you get on a direct Greyhouse bus to LV. Estimated time is about 6 hours.

Thanks to all for the info. It seems the LV Greyhound station is very close to the Plaza, so it wouldn't be a dangerous walk to say the Gollden Nugget. You can also get a ticket to the LV airport, but I don't want to rent a car so downtown would be better.

I may try it, if I can convince my wife. ha
