I faxed in a request for more information to Alamo on 7/24/06. They sent a letter a day or 2 later. Don't know if that was co incidence or not.
They are seeking $331 for the damaged radiator, $50 for claims processing fee and $74 for towing. The towing was pretty reasonable since they towed me from around Sam's Town back to the airport. No loss of use charge.
On 7/21 I talked to my insurance company, AAA and they told me they will cover everything including loss of use but the claim processing fee. I will submit that to my credit card company.
I'm still not thrilled with how the incident was handled and my insurance company was surprised that they didn't make another vehicle available. I am going to write to Alamo one more time and ask them to waive the $50 fee. If they don't , I will file with Nevada Attorney General and see if the way they handled the contract is legal. If Alamo gave me a little less doom and gloom when I called and responded a little quicker, they may have kept me as a customer. As it is now, they fall to dead last on my list.
On the positive side, I mentioned that I had a less than full gas tank when I rented from Dollar in Minneapolis. It was a business trip, the counter was a long way away and the amount was maybe $5 so I didn't bother going back. I did email Dollar, though. Friday they called me and said they are going to refund me the entire gas charge, $12.01. That was nice of them. It's on my company credit card but that attention to a small problem is commendable.
Out with Alamo, in with Dollar.
