Has anyone used Advantage car rental, any thoughts, or problems?
Been watching and so far they are the cheapest, but can not remember
anyone ever mentioning anything about them.

I almost ALWAYS use Thrifty as I can usually 'reserve' a economy car and they never have enough so you get a bigger car. (I've paid their cheapest rate and driven SUVs, a Chrysler 300, twice a PT Cruiser and other, but on a FEW occasions, I have driven their economy car. If you arrive LATE at night, you have a GREAT chance of getting a different car.) Join their Blue Chip club online and getting in and out is a breeze. They will send you a 10% coupon when you join, but...you can usually search the web and find some discount codes. Right now, try SAMS and see if you don't get a discount. As a Blue Chip member, the forms are already all filled out (including any discounts such as SAMS) so you never have to provide any evidence you are actually a member of SAMS or Walmart or whatever the discount of the day is.
I did look at Advantage...and the rates did look cheaper than I have a Thrifty for next week but then I looked at the fine print:
Upon arrival go to rental counter or call number below for assistance. Local renters must show liability insurance or purchase is required. Rates dont include fuel taxes etc. Extra drivers may pay extra 5 dollars daily. Drivers under age 25 subject to additional fees . If paying with debit must deposit 300.00. Airline customers must present return ticket. local renters must show utility bill. travel into Mexico up to 1st checkpoint allowed with purchase of mexico coverage 26 per day. Disabled travelers should call 8007775500 72 hours prior to pickup for additional assistance. Other terms apply. ask for details at time of rental or call.
Seems like a lot of fine print for a simple rental... Wonder what other charges they include with "fuel Taxes , etc....?

I will second this message! I am currently in Vegas, but this time I
drove from El Paso. When I fly to Vegas, Thrifty is the only choice.
I call it my secret play for Vegas - pay for a subcompact and get a PT
Cruiser or Jeep Commander. One interesting thing - I usually buy the
full tank of fuel that is offered. Thrifty will adjust the tank to the
size of the car you actually get, so your price may go up. I did ask a
desk manager about this one time, and he refigured my bill at the
smaller tank rate. After that I just wrote it off to having a better
vehicle.
Thrifty employees have always been great, too.

We're a "best value" renter. To us, it's just a car. We've never found
Advantage "best value". We all look for different stuff in what we want, to
some they want luxury, some SUV, ... We only consider price, since there's
two of us, it's just a piece of steel that gives us great freedom, and we
will only drive 200ish miles on our visit. All we care about is a trunk,
air conditioning, and radio.
At the end of the search we find nobody beats priceline.com.
FYI Advantage used to have a "coupon" in the American Casino Guide, and/or
the LVA POV. I've always found these NFG "sucker bait", where they give you
a coupon off a rack rate.
I agree with previous posts. We've also rented US and Thrifty. US tries to
scare you to death with unique rental rules, Thrifty, to me, is notorious
trying to up-sell us on every item.
My vote is check the current prices available at priceline through
biddingfortavel.com, and if Advantage is still the cheapest, consider the
previous post of back-up reservations.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that plays Car Roulette at Thrifty! Like you, we are WAY ahead in the "better car" winning at this game. I'd say about 80% of the time we get a bigger car that what we reserved. My girlfriend is usually very particular about what cars we get, but when we go to Vegas, the looks forward to the Excitement of the Hunt at Thrifty! There's just 2 of us and not much luggage, so we can cope with the small car if we get it, after all, we really don't drive that much anyway.
