Poker Player Kills Phils!
Kill Phil author Lee Nelson celebrated his 63rd birthday in style, winning the $1.3 million first prize in the 2006 Aussie Millions Poker Championship last week in Melbourne, Australia. Nelson, a medical doctor who effected his own cure for prostate cancer eight years ago, bested an elite field of 418 players who each bought in for $10,000.
Nelson, whose nickname is "Final Table," based on his poker-playing prowess, is co-author of the just-released title, Kill Phil-The Fast Track to Success in No-Limit Hold'em Poker Tournaments. This unique book is written for the massive new poker audience of beginners who are taking up hold'em after watching it on numerous television series. The book has been endorsed by reigning World Series of Poker Champion Joseph Hachem.
"My wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday," beams Lee Nelson," and I said first prize, honey. I got the cards I needed and used the strategies outlined in my book, Kill Phil. My previous largest prize was $400,000."
