XVP - 86d from Fitz Tournaments - at Keno!

Dear Mr. Kremen,

Unfortunately you are no longer able to participate in our Keno Tournaments, due to the manner in which you played in our August 2004 Keno Tournament. Playing in an “Opportunistic” manner, such as waiting for the last minute tournament results or any other fashion of play that gives a participant an undue advantage is strictly prohibited. Management reserves the right to disqualify participants from the tournament and any future tournaments at our discretion.

Here is the truth. I did poorly during the first half of the tournament, thus I decided to buy in again, and since they process credit cards through the front desk, the process took a few hours. Several hours b4 the tournament was about to end the lead player had about $2800 in winnings, as posted for all. They have a rate at the Fitz (Vegas) called true special which I played. I played an 8 spot grouped as follows, 2 deuces and 4 kings, as follows:
1, 6, 53-54, 57, 59-60, 80 for a 10 game multi at 40 cents/way -this translates in to 1-eight spot, 4 seven spots, 8 six spots, and 12 five spots for a total coast of $4.00/game or $40 for the 10 games. As luck would have it, several games in tot he series, 1,6,57, 59,60,80 came up giving me a solid six and 4 solid fives for a win of about $2900 that put me in first place. The odds of getting 6 of 8 are 422:1 There are 28 different ways of getting 6 of 8. Only 2 of these ways involve hitting a group of two and four kings (a king is a group of one).thus you have odds of approxiamtely (1/422 * 2/28)/10 games = about 591:1 hardly opportunistic play and at 40 cents a way! But as a result I hung on to win the tourney. Thus after trying to enter the upcoming tourney and ignoring emails, telephone messages, visits to the hosts office, and even othe rcontact attempts I faxed and mailed a letter asking why no response to my inquires and this is the email response I got. I am
positive over the years at the Fitz because about 18 or so months ago at their $1 BP progressive I held the A-K of spades and you can guess what 3 I drew for a $5935 payoff. The year b4 at regular BP hit a 4K royal and we all know they had the edge there. In Keno non tourney play hit a solid 6 once at the 40 cent true special rate for a $1200 win. Have hit a few 2222 and 2 royals over the year at their 5 cent 10/17 nickel loose deuces, but have also had dry spells at their $1 BP progressive. it seems that paranoia runs high at the Fitz. I can't believe anyone can be excluded from a KENO tournament. I
mean that is the worst game for a vp and the most profitable for a
casino. They must be pretty desperate to do that.

Dear Mr. Kremen,

Unfortunately you are no longer able to participate
in our Keno Tournaments, ....

No disrepect intended but this is kind of
like getting a note barring you from the
Circus-Circus buffet. Cheap? Sure, but still
crappy. My guess is that if you really
want to still play, you could appeal
to someone higher up in the gambling food
chain (pardon the continuation of the
less than apt food analogy. At what point does
analogy become metaphore?). I'm guessing
the Assistant Keno manager has a few layers
above her on the management cake.

I'd avoid the detailed explanation about
kings and simply note you played by the
rules and nothing you're aware of can
influence the outcome of a keno game. If
something untoward influenced the outcome
perhaps they should change the rules not
bar you. Hey, is it your fault you paid
the breakfast price and got lunch?
You have nothing to lose, if successful,
it's all gravy. If that fails play the
home version, it's called the lottery. Sorry,
there's no way to game it by timing the
purchase of your tickets at the local
Git-N-Go. Although the bathrooms there have
more ambiance than the Fitz.
