For those who do not play at MGM/Mirage properties, and are fans of
Cirque Du Soleil, there is a fantastic promotion in progress.
Called "Summer of Cirque", tickets in all price sections are available
for only $50. These are NOT limited view, or nosebleed, seats. In all
the years Cirque has been in LV, there has never been a sale like this
available to non locals.
XVP: $50 Cirque tickets available
Good one, hockeystl!
The deal is definitely there. I booked two floor level $165 seats for
Ka for a total of $114.50 (including the Ticketmaster fee).

This is a fantastic offer. I managed to book 2 lower-level $165.00 seats for LOVE in August, and my total including all the fees = $117.00 ($57.25 + $57.25 + some other $2.50 fee). What a deal!

Thanks Hockeystl! I purchased a single front row ticket for KA on
8/2 for the $50 price. I am trying to find a ticket for LOVE but I
keep getting a message that says "The event you asked for is not
available at this moment ... Please retry later or call ...". I am
hoping that this a temporary situation and it doesn't mean that all
of the tickets in this promotion are unavailable.

A suggestion to those still looking for tickets. When
you get to the Cirq page search the "Search all
Availability" under 'Regular Tickets' and not just
"Find $50 Tickets" under 'Special Offer Tickets.' I
found KA tickets listed there in the center section,
row 3, for $165 each but the SUMA $50 option was
selectable there. So, I got 2 of them for $117 total
with fees. You de-select the $165 option and select
the $50 option and proceed with no problems!

Darn it was there last night and gone this moning should have booked
last night, Just my luck!!

I have finally caught up with the over 600 posts that had accumulated while I was gone for a week.
I don't usually post trip reports, but this trip was unusual.
I had a trip that was almost statistically perfect.
Here are the numbers.
I played approximately 65,000 hands of VP .
Majority of play was 9/6 jb and 8/5 bp and I lose about 1/2 percent due to stupid finger errors
and inaccuracies .
I had approximately $700 worth of free play and/or cash back.
I hit 2 25 cent Royals .
I left town being up about $80 .
All in all a good trip, my objective is to get free vacations to Vegas every 2 months.
Regards

Congrats on a fine trip! Just one observation:
Knowing you, I expect you're being modestly conservative in estimating
your error cost (more often than not a player lays claim to near
perfect play). However, were you on target in your .5% estimate, that
means you gave up $400+ due to play muffs (assuming all $.25 play).
Even allowing for the occasional finger slip (and lapsed attention due
to occasional fatigue, a waitress tapping you on the shoulder when
returning with a beverage - or providing other concurrent eye-level
distraction while you're seated), and the occasional adjacent "video
poker by committee" - 2 people who advise a third over his/her
shoulder and let go with a "YAY!" on every full house"), that's far
too much to be sacrificing each trip.

Well Done!
Does that include your travel costs to and from Vegas? Just curious.

Congrats Albert... That's been my goal too, and I've done it for over 15 years! There's some nice benefits to being an advantage player instead of a take advantage type.
Not sure if you feel the same way as I do but....
#1 I can play at an empty Xtown where they are giving 5X points, and not feel obligated to rush over to Ytown in outer Mongolia, where they are giving 6 1/2 times points and a free shrimp cocktail.
#2 I can really enjoy playing fun games like NSUD multistrike, where its only a 99.9 game - which I'd rather play that then say a 8/5 bonus poker game with 5X points.
#3 I dont have to badger my host and slot club personnel with 100 questions like ...
If i play off my bonus coupon only but dont play do I get downgraded ? if so how much, and what if I split that action between my wife and uncle Charlie, but Aunt Mildred is playing on Uncle Charlie's card, and just made diamond in a day - but she's over by 1500 points , and what if cousin Benny plays btw 10PM and 2AM - is that 1 day or 2 day...etc.
I simply say == "full comp or not ?" 99% of the time its ' of course - no problem !'
( see observation # 6 )
#4 I can tip and smile about it. Since its not a job but a recreational hobby , Win or lose .. its still a good time. Don't need to hole up 12 hours a day, playing that same old game with water bottle in hand and four tips to the dollar.
#5 There are about 40 different VP games which I really enjoy playing, and not all of them are over 99.2% payback. Don't necessarily care if one EV is $3/$1000 coin-in better !
#6 Hosts and casino's aren't as stupid as many of these posts would let you believe. If they think your taking advantage of them, comps will be cut back. If they KNOW your taking advantage of them, they will get even!
I like your thinking:) I also play for pleasure and am satisfied with the comps they give me. Sometimes the casino wins and sometimes I win. So what...I had a good time!

I agree, I try to go to Vegas at least twice a year to visit my money. It's amazing what it has built there. The wife and I go to relax and have fun. We play blackjack, VP (usually 9/6 JOB $.25 or $1) and occasionally Craps. I have a used Haywire machine at home and know what it pays so I stay far away from the slots. Since I'm the house on this machine, it does make a good "piggy" bank.
To sit at a VP machine and pound away for 12 hours to try and make a few bucks does not sound like fun, more like the work I try to get away from. I'll sit at a Bartop (like at Gold Coast) and enjoy a few adult beverages and hope I hit that magical Royal. Or play BJ at a fun $5-$10 table
We came back after a full week Mid-June with more gambling money than we came with. Stayed comped at the Rio (played across the street at Gold Coast) and really reduced rate at Planet Hollywood in one of their newly renovated rooms up on the 37th floor (44 inch plasma TV, updated decor and Demi Moore looking down on us, our room was "themed" Ghost)
Had a great time and look forward to my next trip.
