XVP - 24' pass good all over town for $5

CAT has a 24' hour pass, time stamped from when you buy it from the driver, good for 24' on all CAT routes. For the cost of a little more than a mile in Las Vegas' over priced taxi's ($2.70 flag drop + $1.80 mile + 20 cents waiting time about every 33 sec) you can travel on an unlimited basis for 24'.

You have the #301 local 24' on the strip and to downtown, the #302 strip express afternoons and evenings. You have the #107 24' from downtown to Boulder Station, ACE, Sam's Town, and the Eldorado. You Have the #202 Flamingo 24' that connects west Las Vegas crossing the strip to The Tuscany, Key Largo, Terribles, and Sam's Town. You have the #106 24' from downtown to the Fiesta Rancho and Texas Station. You have the #201 Tropicana to the Orleans. These are just a few. The system encompasses much more. A great deal for one staying in town for just a few days and you can even purchase it on the first bus you take (#108 or #109) from the airport to downtown or the #109 from the airport to the South Strip Transfer terminal.

And I have a CAT Senile citizen's pass that lets
me ride the 301 for two tokens ($1) or any other CAT
bus for one token plus free transfers. $.50 from the
airport to downtown is a hell of a deal!!

Is this something new? Great idea, if true. However, I just checked
the CAT website at http://www.rtc.co.clark.nv.us/cat_busfleet.htm and
there is no mention of a 24-hour pass. There's a full-fare monthly
pass for $30, a reduced-fare monthly pass for $15, and a bag of 40
tokens for $20. But no mention of a 24-hour pass for $5. Could you
post a source where this can be confirmed? Thanks.

I'll be taking the bus from the airport to downtown next month, so
I'll be sure to ask about this 24-hour pass before I drop my money in
the fare box.

I saw it written up in H. Scott Krause's On The Cheap
column (Aug. 5 issue)

Looks like my timing's off again since Scott writes that it's only
expected to be good through the end of August. I'll be coming to town
in September. Oh well.

I'll be out there night of 9/16 for a bit & always take the 108 or
109 to downtown. I buy the tokens over the internet since delivery
has been free. Cheap enough & flexible.

Since these are bought from the driver, you may want
to call CAT (702-CAT-RIDE) and find out if the offer
will be extended. The Scott Krause column was a little
unclear about when it ends for sure.

When I talked to them they thought the end of August, but seemed to be
unsure themselves.
