wynn visited

just walked back from wynn and thought i'd add my two cents while everything
is fresh in my mind. (please excuse repetitious information--my brain ain't
what it used to be.)

first off, interestingly, the new venetian casino will probably block any
view of wynn coming up the strip.

my first impression was one of shock (ok, i shock easily). artificial turf
outside and in the walkway?!! tacky. then you notice the plantings are
uninspired and not lush (this before entering the casino). inside, the atrium is
interesting, with the hanging flower balls, but, to me, not as dramatic as
the bellagio conservatory.

this is not the next great thing. it's a blend of mirage and bellagio,
without the former's tropical lushness, or the latter's class. the lake's
waterfall effect must be great at night with projections, but during the day it
looks like a concrete wall with water pouring over it.

the buffet was not comparable to bellagio, in my experience. the chicken
was dry, as was the pork chop, so much so that the knife wouldn't cut it (i'm
not exaggerating). i did like the pizza, but could have skipped the ordinary
desserts altogether. also, be careful if you're placed in a side room in a
banquette; the backs of them are unfathomably bare wood, with a horizontal
piece place precisely to do damage to your shoulder blades when you lean back.

video poker is $9 to a point, 5000 points=$100 cash back (same day), so
$45000 'in' = $100 out. standard room comp is 3800 points. the bingo bonus
feature is fun. (i even managed to win $65.)

for dollar players, there are 3/5/10 play 1/2/5 denominations. (i didn't
note the paytables in high end room.) (by the way, if any of you are thinking
this is all sour grapes due to losing, i actually played for three hours--5
and 10 play dollars--on my original $200 in!) 9/6 job, 8/5 bp, 9/7 db, 9/6
ddb.

i know this sounds very negative, but between what wynn had done before and
what his hubris had trumpeted this time, there were great expectations. for
my money (well, comps), i'll stick to bellagio (i also prefer its location on
the strip and its proximity to highway).

however, the bathrooms were great! and i understand the rooms are terrific.
don't know if i'll bother to visit them.

just my opinions.

p.s. stafff was very gracious--no small thing.
