Wynn Resorts has an excellent deal for Vegas locals if you play enough to
get their "Free Credit" mailings. It is unclear how much you need to trigger
the initial mailing, but it seems that once you do, you can continue to get
them, as long as you continue to play each month. I'd advise playing at least
500 points in one day, or even 1000 points. At VP this means $9= 1 point or
$9,000 through in one day for the 1000 points. For "reels" only $3 per point
is required. Once mailings are triggered, you get the following:
Earn between 200-699 points get $25 Free Credit in the next month - each
week (4 times)
between 700-999 points get $50
between 1000 and 1999 points get $75
That means for your $9000 through you get $75 per week x 4 or $300. So if
you are playing 9/6 JB or one of the better 100% games (found on 4 machines
only) - that is 3.33% extra. Plus you get regularly accruing cashback. Plus
some possible comps (though comps are very low if you play 100% machines only).
For 2000-4,999 points get $100 free credit per week
For 5000-7999 points get $200
For 8000-11,999 points get $300
For 12,0000-17,999 points get $500
18,000-28,999 - get $750
30,000 points and up get $1000 free credit
As I said, you may also qualify for free buffets or other comps. I've found
that the hosts are more generous than the slot club, so if you don't qualify
there, try a host. You might want to play some 9/6 JB (there are a LOT of
$1 machines) instead of going for the 100% machines, because those are often
full. A little bit of "reel" slot play may also help encourage comping, since
we found with 100% only the slot booth didn't want to give us buffets after
the first 2 when we joined (though a host did comp us).
If you are playing "reels" you'll find them quite generous with comps. I
was sitting at a $5 machine and hit a $1600 jackpot. A host appeared and out
of the blue offered me a comp. It turned out to be an unlimited comp for food
plus $50 liquor. We pigged out and ate our all-time most expensive meal at
the steakhouse, including 1 ounce of cavier - for about a $500 total bill for
2 people!! Previously with $5 reel and $1 9/6 play I had no trouble getting
a $250 comp for excellent Okada (Japanese) and 2 tickets for Le Reve, as
well as a number of buffets.
Locals don't seem to get mailers for rooms, slot tournaments, or giveaways,
but you may be able to contact a host and get invited.
Out of towners report getting different offers such as rooms, shows, free
play, but on a far less generous scale.
If you play "reels" and have a Vegas address, this could be the place for
you. At the 8000 point level that is only $24,000 through, yet you will get
$1200 in Free credit on the next month - PLUS you get the regularly accruing
free credit type cashback, plus some nice food comps.
Note - we did have a month's lapse without a mailer, but it seems as if they
are continuing on a regular basis now. Also the mailers are mailed out
late, so you may miss the first week if you aren't careful. Also, you must do
the FreeCredit (freeplay) on Mon-Thurs. only.
Points may be accumulated all month, but it is probably a good idea to play
heavily on 1 day to try to trigger the mailings.
Valet parking is not very good, but there is a valet across from the Sands
Expo (Spring Mt) which is far less used. If coming from the west, access to
the Wynn is easiest by going down Spring Mountain and across. You might
prefer self-parking to valet parking.
For those using public transport, the Deuce goes by the Wynn. There is also
a handy shuttle that runs from the Palms to the Fashion Show Mall every 2
hours (10:30 am, 12:30, 2:30, 4:30, 6:30) and it is an easy walk over to the
Wynn from the drop off point. You can also exit the monorail at the Convention
Center and take a free shuttle across the street to the Wynn.
I recommend the Wynn buffet, but it can get busy, so be sure to ask for a
Line Pass when you get your comp. Changeover from lunch to dinner is a 4pm, so
if you pay, arriving at 3:30 is an interesting idea. We prefer to eat
dinner about 5pm and avoid crowding. Ask for a table "near the front" as well.
The deserts are the best of any buffet, in my opinion.
The "free show on the lake" isn't much to see, and only happens after dark.
Worth seeing if you are eating dinner, but not worth paying for a drink to
sit at one of the bars with a view.
