These rooms are larger than the regular CP Palace Tower room but just a little smaller than the Petite Suite. The CP's web site same weekend price for those are $270/$400.
So I think the Wynn's prices are very competitive and the amenities are obviously superior - Flat screen HDTV?
Any hope of playable VP? We'll know pretty soon.

Maybe some people have become inured to high Vegas Strip hotel room
prices (and high hotel prices in general), but to me, $300 is a lot
of money to rent a bed and a bathroom for 21 hours. No matter WHERE
said room happens to be.
IMHO for $300, you shouldn't just have a luxury bath, there should
be someone to GIVE you the bath as well. But maybe that amenity is
only available if you're a high-roller....
I have no doubt that Wynn will be a very very nice, very very high-
priced property. I just hark back to all the hoopla over the opening
of MGM, Bellagio, Paris, Venetian, blah blah blah and reading
reports from people who stayed there during their opening weeks--and
how ordinary the experience was for them. Maybe Wynn'll be something
unique--but I doubt it. I'd still rather kick in $49, stay at the
Gold Coast, and put the other $250 in my VP bankroll.
And BTW, if such a game as 2/1 Jacks or Better exists at the time of
opening, that's what you'll see on the floor. That and some 3/2
Bonus poker.

But, different strokes for different folks. I like it when I get a mailer for three nights in a "$400 a night" petitie suite, plus cash from CP. It's not a great play, just fun. I would never, ever pay $400 a night for that room (or any room, anywhere).
But as long as I can play something like NSU or 9/6 JB MS or 9/6 JB STP, I'm in. We like to get away from the house on weekends every so often. On the other hand, I have stayed at the Cannery's motel rooms more than once also. Cannery tip: They have broadband, but if you bring you laptop, bring your own cable.
When we still lived in Calif, we stayed at the Mirage the first weekend it was open (it opened on a Wednesday, as I recall). That was a very serious mistake. I suggest that anyone who is looking forward to enjoying the opening days at Wynn, book a room at a nearby hotel and walk in. Give them a month or so to get things smoothed out a little. Venetian was bad also and we weren't there at the very start, but there was still paint on the windows, the elevators were acting weird and it was more than a little disorganized. They opened before it was actually finished (don't think Wynn would do that). On the other hand, they opened up with pretty good VP for a luxury joint.
My guess is, you are right on the money about the VP at Wynn. Hope i'm surprised..

While we're on the subject of hotels, there was a question about Bally's recently and I have uploaded a picture I took of the remodeled rooms in the North tower. They are quite a lot larger than the Paris rooms, and have two desks (I don't know why). Nothing spectacular but nicely decorated.

I'm hearing from people in the know that June will be more like the
opening date. Either that, or it's going to be the roughest soft
opening on record.
Playable VP? Most likely. The obvious prediction is multiline 9-6
Jacks with .33 on the card and decent mail (until they back you off).
Unless your name is William Bennett, don't expect any mail from Steve
using a NV addy (although things have changed greatly since 1998, and
I could see you getting mail with the right Zip code or address, like
Summerlin/Turnberry/Seven Hills). There has been some lobbying for the
99.92 joker two pair, it's a game marketing is hearing a lot about,
but I doubt they'll put it in. You have to understand though, Steve
has always thought of slots players as suckers-he has no problem
getting people to line up to play 100-play 8-5 Jacks at max coin. May
we only hope that not too many people follow him from Bellagio or TI,
where VP players are getting backed off as routinely as BJ players
(Paladin only steps foot in TI when he needs a comp to Tangerene, and
would not consider it a great loss if a terrorist attack was launched
on the Big B-a few dead terrorists as well as 500-1000 of the most
arrogant gaming staff in the history of gaming is a win/win AFAIC).
I also think Steve is going the right way on the restaurants. To be
honest, most big name Vegas eateries are more about the rep than the
food (look for my post on rec.gambling.food about the time the GM of
Aqua in SF apologized to me about the Aqua at Bellagio). Putting in a
bunch of up and coming chefs who have something to prove is the right
move.
