Wynn now has a bank of eight uprights a few rows in front
of the sportsbook entrance that have $1/$2/$5 Spin Poker
and 3/5/10 Play NSUD and 9/6 JoB.
Wynn Adds More NSUD
It's a shame that 98% of the people who would benefit most from this
posting are permanently backed off the mail there roflmao... =))
Machines have been there for about 3 weeks now. I think they will be
there for a while, but one never knows. Sometimes, a casino, publicly
traded, will put stuff out like this to increase handle, to make the
business look better than it actually is (see our discussion regarding
Valley View last week which is in a similar vein).
As time goes on, I'm becoming more and more sensitive to discussing
the higher paying machines pretty much anywhere, unless they're all
over the casino. Wynn also still has a bank of single line $1 and $2
NSUD left near high limit; I don't mind discussing those. My reasons
may at first appear to be selfish, but I compete with other
professionals (and a steadily rising number of amateurs) for a
steadily decreasing slice of the VP pie. It's my feeling that you want
to be like me or my brethren, you gotta do some of the dirty work,
too, and that includes investing some tire rubber and shoe leather and
going out and scouting. This attitude of having the game drive up to
you, is for the birds, IMHO.
I will offer this caveat, you play those machines, and you're winner
after the second royal, or a royal and flopping the deuces, you're
done there anyway.
Finally, I may return to posting a blog briefly on my website. I'll
keep you posted. The two topics of discussion might be my dissent
towards the Sunshine Policy on VPFree, why it doesn't work, IMHO
(Administration's position I think can be found in FAQs 40-42 et seq),
and how the current financial crisis has actually hurt VP
opportunities, and what you may expect in the months ahead, assuming
you will still have a bankroll to play with. The financial crisis has
cost me at least two very strong plays already, worth over $5K combined.

Can you be more specific? You are referring to not receiving mailed
marketing offers? What criteria was used to get the 98% "backed off
the mail"? If playing good games is your answer, wouldn't then
playing the NSUD machines get you backed off the mail too?

We play there regularly and have had a number of RF's on their 9/6 JOB machines over the
past 6-9 months and several sets of deuces (one of them dealt!) and one RF more recently.
The "free play" helps and, of course, the buffets do as well.

what do you mean by your 5th paragraph (you're done there anyway) below?

Wynn will either ban you or make it undesirable for you to play there
(like, remove comps and other perks you might otherwise receive).

A couple of points. First, your basic slot director, and I think
they're on the money here, believe that DW games are easy to play.
There's a high percentage of redraw hands, their hold compared to
other games is probably lower, so they have a lot of data to back up
that assertion. So what's the game going to hold with people who
mostly know how to play, like your average VPFree poster? And these
days, pretty much everyone who is going to play the NSUD (dollar
denoms and up) is going to know how to play. What Wynn is likely doing
is offering the game in the hopes of pumping up the handle to make the
casino look like it's taking more action than it is. This deal is all
about the stock price, most likely. So, have at it for the next
quarter or so. I don't think have any choice, that's why the games are
there (and I guess it was too much to ask for 15-11 lol).
The second one is that this particular casino just does not tolerate
any sort of repetitive winning. Dancer reported he flopped a royal on
like his 2d or 3d visit there, for $80K ($2 10-play, IIRC), and Wynn
paid him and essentially told him to have a nice life. Yes, they're
playing the result, but too many of the casino suits these days really
don't understand the math or the statistics of gambling and think they
should bust you every time.
I played them very very soft, but after hits for $4K and $8K, they
said, "seeya". That was mail backing-off #3 BTW.
What I'm looking at here is to come in, play for maybe half an hour,
grab a nice meal comp (I'm a pretty simple guy, I don't need their
gourmets, and frankly, a lot of that is overrated), pick up some free
play, and hope to keep it rolling another two weeks. I don't pretend
to really try to make any money at Wynn, they're very sensitive to any
big win, so I don't poke the bear too much. Others may disagree with
this philosophy.

I played the old 100% bank exclusively during the 1st half of 2006. I was
then put on the "list" for no mailers even though I never hit a RF in
125,000 hands and was not ahead there on machine play. 2 months before my
mailers permanently stopped I won $7000 in a 2 week period without a W2-G to
get me close to even.

Nope! I agree that you are right on the money. This is exactly the way in which we have
been approaching Wynn for the past year or so. It is a nice venue to play, they have
gorgeous cocktail waitresses (even my wife agrees....LOL), they have an adequate buffett
(but, in our opinion, only when it is free), and, at least for now, they have $1 NSUD and
9/6 JOB. On the day before we leave, we take all of our free play, play it through once, and
leave with whatever balance might have accrued, also making sure that our "buffet
account" is at or very near zero..
When this goes away, so will we. Cet la vie!

One thing that may help extend the life of the All-Star games is that the
seats are often occupied with nice people playing quarter short-pay Super
Times Pay games. Perhaps that will help the "hold" on the machines and keep
the suits happier.
