I don't know if you guys have this game in Vegas or not, but we
have it here in Detroit. It's called "Triple Trouble Bonus Poker" and
it's found at the MGM Grand. Check out this pay scale:

This is the worst video poker game that I have ever come across in
all my years of playing. It has a 81.48% return with perfect play.
And you can play up to fifty coins per hand if you so desire.
Yet it's a very popular game here. How is that possible, you say. Are
the VP players in Detroit that stupid? What's the catch?
Yes, there is a catch. While playing this horrible game, and
probably losing, randomly, the pay scale triples for the hand you last
played and three more and then it returns back to normal. When in the
bonus round, the pay scale looks like this, which has
a return of "244.44%!" Yes I said 244.44%!

When I first saw this game it looked kind of interesting, so I
started playing one coin at a time, and using my stopwatch, tried to
get a fix on the time intervals between bonus rounds. They went from
just seconds to as long as twenty minutes.
So, I picked ten minutes as the average and proceeded to play one
coin at a time until ten minutes came up and then I played five coins
for a minute or so, then fifteen, then twenty, and so on until the
bonus round came up.
The problem is I hit a quad playing just one coin (Rats!) and when
I did get into the bonus round for the three hands, I didn't get
anything but a lousy pair. I quit playing it shortly thereafter.
I've seen people play this game with max coin in and losing at a
rate that would make Bob Dancer want to throw up. I've tried to tell
some of them what a bankroll killing game this is, but to no avail.
Also, there are these urban legends of people playing max coins and
hitting the three Aces or the Royal, although nobody has ever seen or
met one who did.
If any of you VP geniuses can come up with a better strategy for
this game, although I can't imagine how, I will pass it on to the
faithfull devotees.

expectancy games and I will show you either a liar or a cheat."
