Worth It?

I know I will probably be persecuted for asking such a silly question,
but...

I just got into VP a couple of years ago. I hit a RF at Caesar's on my
first trip to LV after purchaisng winpoker (9/6 JOB). I make 1, maybe
two trips to gambling destinations per year. I also play FPDW.

I've been attempting to learn 10/7 Double Bonus...it's pretty tough and
the volatility is significant compared to the other two games.

Is the 1% additional EV worth it if I can't play as quickly or as
accurately as I can on the other two simpler games and I oly do it 1-2x
pewr year?

Thoughts for a very recreational player are appreciated.

Yes, 10/7 DB is a bitch to learn...

As a recreational player, what are your objectives? Are you looking to
play a game where you're pretty close to break-even and getting some
room and meal comps on top of that, puts you right at break-even?

If you make two trips a year to gaming destinations, then one would
doubt that making serious profits is your motivation.

I'm guessing that you want to be an informed player, play games that
are pretty close to even, get some comps to take care of the rooms and
some meals...and have FUN!!!

Nothing the matter with that! So why take the fun out of it by trying
to learn a game that while positive, is very volatile. Sure all the
pros and APs know the game, to varying degrees...but that's only out
of necessity. There objectives are different from yours.

So stay with the 9/6 Jacks and the FPDW, get as many comps as you can,
and enjoy.

I agree with Don. Before one trip I studied really hard to make a
run at the 10/7 DB prog at the 4 Queens. The stress of the swings
made it not that much fun and the comps didn't end up being nearly as
good as the places where I play 9/6 JOB (MSS) and DW (Barbary Coast -
RIP).
