woodbine pick'em

I am wintering in Las Vegas and am much enjoying myself primarily at
Sam's Town where I am enjoying the benefits of playing for 4x points
on Thursday's, 5x points on Friday's and 6x points on Saturdays. This
is a result of establishing myself there last winter and getting
regular, high-volume snowbird benefits.

While in Canada I usually play full pay dollar pick'em at Woodbine. I
am reading with distress about the pick'em downgrades there. Is there
anything new on those downgrades, especially on the dollar machines.

They have definitely downgraded them all as far as I could see the
last time I visited. As someone else noted the only worthwhile way to
play is at the $1.00 a hand level so that at least you have the
experience of enjoying the game without causing yourself major wallet
damage. Should you win something more than what you put it consider
yourself very lucky!

Enjoy Vegas and say hi to the wolf in the atrium at Sam's Town for me
(if it's still there doing the show!)

About 1/2 of the $1 machines are short pay. All of the $2 machines
and $5 machines are still full pay. If you're willing to wager
$5/hand, you CAN still have full pay Pick'em. If you're willing to
wager $10-$25/hand, you WILL still have full pay Pick'em. This may
change, however....

Hi there,
as of March 5 all the bartop $0.25 machines were still full-pay. I
think there are 8 total but one is out of order and has been for
quite some time.

Thanks for the info. Is the staff tolerant of people who just gamble
and don't order drinks? I would like to play at the 25c level, but I
feel a little nervous about being harassed.

Oh yeah, I haven't had any problems. In fact, I told the bartender
that I'd order Heneiken ($7+ / bottle) every time I got 4 of a kind
(never did in that session). However, he was rooting for me whenever
I had 3 and was drawing for the 4th...
