As is often the case, Bill, your signal to noise ratio is extremely low. Or,
in simple English, you don't know what the heck you're talking about, at least
in this particular case.
We are not discussing "regular slots" here. We are talking about "Wongable"
slots. What this means is that there is a bonus feature that increases in value
with play until it is hit, kind of like a progressive jackpot in video poker.
When this bonus reaches a certain threshold, the game exceeds 100% payback.
Many of these types of games were EXTREMELY lucrative if you knew when to play
them. The know-nothing masses would play them when they were negative and
frequently leave them with the bonus high enough for the game to be positive. Then
the knowledgeable players would jump in and play until the bonus was hit,
then quit. Unlike a VP progressive, the only skills involved were knowing when
the game became positive, then playing it until the bonus was hit, then quitting
immediately. MUCH simpler than playing "advantage" VP!
Personally, though I find most slots boring, I did make several thousand
dollars playing these occasionally over a 2-3 year period. My favorite Wongable
slot was "Super Sevens." Others of this type were Piggy Banking, Wild Cherry
Pie, Diamond Mine, and dozens of others. And, as stated previously, the bankroll
required for these types of games was extremely small, compared to video
poker.
If you'd like to learn more, "Robbing the One-armed Bandits" by Charles Lund
is the definitive work on this subject. You might find it an interesting read,
even though most of these games no longer exist in LV casinos. Or, if they
do, so many people know the break-even points that it is pretty rare to find a
machine left in a positive condition.

exaggerating, but I am skeptical, to say the least -- and it doesn't
really matter anyway because no amount of such nonsense is ever going to
be able to convince me that I ought to play regular slots instead of
VP. And since this is a VP forum, anyone who comes here and makes a
rather unbelievable statement like "$5 machines could be played with the
bankroll need for .25 vp" ... as if that were the rule rather than the
_VERY_RARE_ exception ... is either an idiot or a troll.
