Wolf Video Poker

I have lost contact with Jim so I am guessing he is “out of the
business.”

Anyone know if James Wolf is still supporting his VP software?
His web site http://www.wolfvideopoker.com/ comes up:

This is not good. My WVP deactivated some time ago. I emailed Jim about it and got no response. WVP is Frugal Video Poker with more bells and whistles on it. I have the FVP free download and have been getting by with it. But I don’t have it on disc and that’s what concerns me. I’ve been operating with just Winpoker, FVP and WVP for years. I don’t have any other software.

There is an invaluable function on FVP and WVP called “Tweak the Strategy Chart.” I’ve found multiple uses for it but take, for example, a casino giving a bonus for 4-Card Royals. Per the software stats at 9/6 Jacks you will see a playable 3-card royal every 91.7 games. High pairs play over the 3-card royals. But the bonus for 4-card royals can cause the 3-card royals to have higher ER’s than the high pairs. You can “tweak the strategy chart” to where the 3-card royals play over the high pairs and get the stats.

Playing the 3-card royals over the high pairs means you will see a playable 3-card royal every 66 games instead of 91.7 games. This is taken from the software using Tweak the Strategy Chart and is invaluable in calculating the add-on for the bonus. There are many other uses for it. I just tried a free download site to see if FVP is still available. I got the error code.

With Jim out of busines and since I don’t have it on disc what do I do to insure I never lose FVP to a computer crash or whatever?

Does any of the other software have this function on it?

Thanks for any answers.

How did you get the software initially?, if it was a download, you may have the executable and copying that to a disc or flash drive will save it. Otherwise you could get software to make a “bare metal” image of the whole computer, then if the computer dies, it can be resurrected onto a new PC, a little bit of tech, but not bad, the software, like Acronis but there are others, pretty much walk you through it. I can give more info (software, etc) if that is a path you want to follow.

You can do a lot with the wizard’s strategy generator and compare hands software, available wherever you have an internet connection.

Thanks, for the tips folks. FVP, the free download version, is executable. The old dog has learned a new trick. I now have it and all my downloads on backup disc.

Shame. I liked the software and even recommended it to people, despite continually having to reactivate the license whenever something on my computer gets updated. Now that he’s closed the activation center, the “lifetime” license is now dead. I hope no one ever bought it on my recommendation
