WinPoker vs. Frugal Poker???

Substitute "more compressed" for "somewhat less complete". In most cases,
when you analyze the lines, you'll note that all the same situations are covered,
it's just that FVP combines lines that are similar. For example, for JB, VPSM
has 4 lines for open-ended straights vs 2 lines for FVP with no loss of
accuracy when you analyze it.

Since FVP has the same capability as both WinPoker & VPSM is there a need for
all 3? Yes.

Often use VPSM for its more detailed line-by-line strategy info as I really
would like to know the values of all 4 types of open-ended straights vs the
value of St4h3 & all other open-ended straights. When you're going after a
progressive it is important to know the individual line values. As I don't carry a
computer with me to generate strategy charts, knowing those values gives me an
estimate as to how close I am to changing strategy.

For those who like to chase the odd games which require modifying or
inputting complete schedules, I use both FVP & WinPoker as a check on my work. Since
the two have different procedures for handling modifications, I use the old
accountants trick of cross-checking results from two different directions to
verify that I've done it right. Too often, I've caught myself in dumb mistakes
which would have cost a lot.

Regarding this whole thread of what to buy, many of the responses are from
people who own both. We're all guarded in our enthusiasm as we don't want to
offend the people to whom we owe so much. For me, the payback on every program
I've bought was the first day I used it. If they had charged double for their
work, it still would have been a day.
