Windsor

Anyone been to Caesars in Windsor? Any playable machines, what about
restaurants, any suggestions?

It's the World Capital of Pick'em. There's enough Pick'em to put the
entire Detroit area in a permanent coma. There's also some 99% stuff
as well, but no 9-6 Jacks or 8-5 BP AFAIK (there is some multiline US
though).

Lots of good restaurants in both Detroit and Windsor. In Windsor I can
personally rec Ye Old Steak House, Ye Olde Fish House (both downtown,
and in summertime walking distance from the casino), the Little Italy
section (drive) and Himalaya (curry, drive).

Greektown in Detroit is probably your best bet locally, but no hotel
yet. Detroit isn't a very profitable place to play, IMHO.

I can add a little more here.

We took the drive up to Windsor from Cincinnati to cash in $500 in
Free Play and make use of $300 in food. We choose to take our 3 year
old daughter since we were going for just one night which turned out
to be a bit of a mistake. Here are some things I didn't know about
Windsor before I left:

- There are two towers, Forum and Augustus. The Augustus is the only
one that allows children.

- The pool is in the Forum tower and you can not take children there.

- All the restaurants but one, are on the Forum tower/casino side and
you can not take children. So we pretty much ate 3 meals at the
Augustus cafe :frowning:

- Drinks are not comped.

Luckily my daughter had a ton of fun playing in the room and there are
a few kids parks in walking distance to the casino.

ROOMS
We stayed in Augustus tower (of course!) and the rooms were really
nice. Medium size with flat panel TV's and nice bathrooms. We had
adjoining rooms and my daughter had her own room. Great views of the
river and Detroit.

GAMBLING
There are plenty of Pickem machines around but when we left we saw
that a vast majority of them are going out for service on July 14th.
I'm not sure if this will affect the games but generally machines
don't go under service for an upgrade!

Cash back was in the 0.15% to 0.167% range. Pickem earned bonus
credits of about 0.6 for each base credit.

EXCHANGE RATE
Be carefull here! Changing from US to Canadian is currently at .99 to
the dollar (meaning you get 99 Canadian for 100 US). But when you
change it back you need 103 Canadian for 100 US. So you lose 1% on
your buy in and then lose 3% on your winning (or cash out). If you
plan to return often it might be best to leave your money as Canadian.

FOOD
We only ate at Augustus cafe which was a good solid, limited menu
restaurant. It is right next the to check in lobby of the Augustus
cafe (which is a very nice lobby). Nero's looked very good. I would
imagine it being similar to the one in LV.

All in all this was a very "Vegas like" property and I would make my
top 5 of any Harrah's property in the country particularly for VP
players. If it served free booze then it would make the top 3!

Thanks for the information....We are going to avoid Detroit, not to
offend anyone, but worked there a few years back and hated the time I
spent.

A bit more to add,
Ye Ole Steak House is closed, was one of our favorites too. Economy
very tough in Windsor (automotive). Would highly recommend La Guardia
restaurant, same area.
You will never see drinks 'comped' in at the Casino in Windsor, thats
our famous Government control on Liquor! However, having been to the
Detroit casinos, have never had a drink comped there either,
understand that's their 'bylaw'.

I can add a little more here.

and 30's that I can't remember them! Is there a Diamond Lounge and
how is that? Thanks again. Oh, by the way, should we try the Candian
Club Factory tour?

Thanks. Not too worried about booze, did enough of that in my 20's
