Win/Loss Woes

I received a win/loss statement in the mail yesterday and had a good
idea of what to expect before I opened the envelope.

So when I saw that the casino had OVERSTATED my 2008 result by over
$8000 (resulting in a larger net win) I wasn't pleased. That's $8000
I didn't win of which the IRS might someday want its share.

Just got off the phone with a Player Development Manager who is
investigating.

But, in the meantime, there is a secondary issue besides the obvious
one of substatiating my gaming diary.

I wonder how many of us are being misrated because of the inaccurate
information received through the card readers.

Perhaps you or I would have had more food and beverage, show
tickets, etc. picked up on that last trip but the casino never saw
what we lost. Or, as in the case of my win/loss statement, the casino
thinks the winnings are a whole lot more than they actually were.

Conversely, could we sometimes be receiving more than we should
reasonably expect because the casino isn't seeing a winning session?

Again, my currrent focus is on getting ready for tax time. But I
wonder if this secondary issue of player rating isn't important as
well.
