Hi H
Playable and travel costs. Sad but true for us unlucky folks from
the east. Since I travel from western Pa, a good price for airfare to
Vegas is about $300 X 2 people. Last two trips I booked I got in for
$200 per person round. Of course U S Airways has to stay in business,
as the trips are booked for Sept & Nov. So in my mind I would figure
about $150 driving cost to AC. Subtract that from airfare and get at
least $250 difference added to my cash back. However, there is a lot
of vacation value in going to Vegas. AC is good for 3 night trips.
Vegas I always go for 7 - 10 days. AC is more playing and less relax.
Vegas less play per day and some shows, pool, casino hopping,
visiting, conventions and a couple gourmet meals. I like both for
different reasons.
Cheers...Jeep.
P S Us Pa folks are only unlucky relative to traveling to good
gambling jurisdictions. Otherwise I love Pennsylvania. Instead af a
winter home in Fla as some like, the ideal for me would be vacation
home in Vegas and still live in Pa. Then again, maybe live in Vegas
and vacation in Pa? Nevada has some good tax rules? Oh well, that's
another story.

"Playable" is relative. Living in Philadelphia, play is necessarily
predominantly recreational. Truly positive plays in AC are scarce
and
···
travel cost negates the possibility of positive LV play under most
circumstances.
Fortunately, I'm not looking for a profit expectation, just an all
round entertainment experience in my play. So, playable in my case
means a near breakeven play, with a denomination/volatility mix that
doesn't pose undue threat of premature bankroll demise.
Of course, I'm ever mindful of the risk inherent in break-even play,
which keeps me pretty conservative in my choices.
