I'm new to video poker.
Can anyone tell me what are the benefits of play 9/6 JoB?
I thought it was an under 100% payback game.
Does it go into the positive with slot points and a big enough
progressive?

b) It's relatively easy to find in LV
c) Yes, your longterm payback can go over 100% with the right casino promotion and/or progressive jackpot.
Also, once you've learned JOB, you have a good foundation for lots of other games, especially the "Bonus" games.

There is not a big difference in the volatility between JB and BP. Double Bonus or other variations have a much higher volatility. 9/6 jb has a higher EV than BP.
A good alternative to the boredom of JB is multiline versions of the game. I love playing the 50 play machines at the Palms, it is the only place where I have found full pay JB on a 50 line machine for pennies.

I've got to agree Pick Em is major boring, but JOB does run a close second

e. For those who prefer staying/playing on The Strip, in most cases
it's the best game available.
f. At casinos awarding discretionary comps using a theoretical loss
formula, you may get somewhat better comps playing 9/6 Job then a
game with 100%+ EV.
g. For high rollers, it's the best game available at higher
denominations ($5 and up).
You can add

for people who live outside Las Vegas, its usually the best game available. Its certanly the best thing in Atlantic City, and the comp's and cash back make it pretty good.
If you want excitement, they have 9/6 Jacks or Better on the Multi Strikes at the Borgota. Its a real roller coaster ride.
I'd be doing much better if I could stay away from those pesky Joker's Wild machine's. They eat up my money, but I love them.

To add a little levity here.
FP JOB is a negative expectation game. Many reasons have been given in
the last several hours as to why one should play it, nonetheless. (And, I do
understand that comps and progressives can elevate to a positive return). It
reminds me of the old joke...
There's a guy searcing in the snow under a lamp-post. A second fellow
comes up and asks the first guy what he is doing. First fellow says that he is
looking for his keys that he accidentally dropped in the snow. Second fellow
asks where the first fellow thinks he dropped the keys. First fellow says, over
there, pointing to a fence a hundred yard away. Second fellow asks why is he
looking here rather than over at the fence. First fellow says becasue this is
where the light is.
Old joke, I know, but it came to mind, reading the rationale for playin JOB.
By the way, I play JOB all the time, for all of the reasons given, even though it
is usually negative expectation.

Believe it or not, but one of the main reasons that people play
casino games is to HAVE FUN. Just because a game is negative
expectation does not mean that nobody should play it. Yes, there are
certain situations where 9/6 can be positive-expectation (promotions,
points, etc.).
Another reason to play 9/6 Jacks or Better is because its house edge
(.46%) is lower than many other casino games such as roulette (5.26%)
and slot machines (~10% to 2%). Also, compared to other video poker
paytables (such as 8/5 Bonus), JOB offers a better paytable. In many
casino districts, games such as 10/7 Double Bonus, NSU Deuces and
Pick'em are not available. 9/6 Jacks or Better is the best available
video poker game in many areas and denominations.

denomination and they ain't so boring any more. Scary occasionally but not
