Why not Reno (instead?)

We are going this year to Reno to Celebrate New Years. Continental has a
non-stop flight from Newark that leaves every Saturday evening. We are only
paying $328 RT with a 5 hour flight time, Compared to some of the more
typical fares during a holiday which are $600 with a 9 1/2 hour flight time.

I like Reno and would go there more often but from the East Coast it
is not easy to get there and to get there cheaply. The best seems
to be America West which requires a change of planes in Las Vegas
which just seems like be a bummer.

Anyone know an easier/cheaper way to get to Reno from the East Coast?

Amtrak has excellent service from the East Coast. From New York, Washington, Phladelphia and some places in between you take the train to Chicago and change for the very scenic California Zephyr trip to Reno and arrive wright in the middle of downtown Reno.

A car is not needed in Reno. There is direct city bus service from the airport to downtown, and many added routes that get to all the casinos. Many casinos in walking area downtown as well.
