Who Was Lenny Frome?

I knew the "short answer"; that he was a pioneer of video poker strategy, wrote books and magazine articles on the topic, etc. I learned quite a bit more from this article, written by Elliot Frome, Lenny's son:

Thank you for posting the article.

I am very sad to report that my mother, Rhoda Frome, passed away this past Saturday. The funeral was this morning.

She had not been well the past few weeks. I saw her last on Friday and although she was resting, I read to her parts of that article and showed her some of the pictures. I can't thank Catherine Jaeger (editor of Midwest Gaming and Travel) enough for coming up with the idea for the November issue and spearheading the effort to get my dad into the AGA Hall of Fame. I hope many of you here will help in those efforts.

I'm comforted by the fact that my parents are once again together - in more than just 'video poker' heaven.

Elliot, I'm very sorry for your loss of your mother. Your father was the main inspiration in my switching from low limit poker to video poker. In the early to mid-nineties I mostly played the poker rooms of Deadwood, Cripple Creek and Albuquerque. Cardplayer Magazine was a bi-weekly publication always found in those cardrooms. I read every issue from cover to cover. Everytime a new issue showed up, the very first article I went to was the Lenny Frome article.

I've done very well with video poker over the years. Thank you Lenny Frome.
