Who are these people?

I was talking about the rising cost of visiting Vegas with friends last
night. We attributed it to the ownership of Casinos. Corporations look at bottom
lines and they know they can get more for their rooms, food, etc.

On another note, if you travel a lot in the states an average hotel room in
any city has gone up along with food and gasoline. Visiting Vegas gives you a
lot more than most American cities in the way of free entertainment. If you
travel to Europe (East or West) you find the difference in money and the cost of
rooms, food, transportation is WAY up there too. So if you can vacation, Vegas
increases are not that substantial to you.

I agree the spread of gambling has made it more acceptable--and has increased
the number of people of all ages gambling. Plus, lotto tickets for increasing
school reserves makes gambling quite acceptable at every level.

Also, many seniors find they have worked very hard and accumulated a lot of
money that is all going to take care of them in old age. Nursing homes are
asking $220-500 per day--why not spend it now and let the new immigrants pay for
you later. In California, everyone accept the middle and rich classes have free
medical and schooling!! Why not enjoy yourself--poor is better when you are
ill and/or old!!! Otherwise the health industry rips you off and than the
government goes after your last dimes.Go gamble in Vegas and don't worry about the
buffet cost!

Assuming that any government program will be available in 30 years is
gambling in the extreme. The way things are going now, they will be
lucky to pay 60% of current levels. I personally assume 0% just to be
on the safe side. After looking at the New Orleans aftermath, why
would anyone place any faith in the government to take care of them!

China–You sound like my mid-western, 80+ yr old parents! When I was young, I always remember them saying–"If you work hard your entire life and save your money, you'll be forced to pay for yourself (when you're old) BUT if you have nothing–the "govt" will pay for you!" So why work and save your money??? It is ironic. . . .but the truth is in there. . . . I guess you're right–go gamble and don't worry about the cost of the buffet! But I still feel that if my parents are correct–and they are. . . .we're in for a ton of trouble. . . . I guess it's a matter of pride . . . .and that's fast going the way of the dinosaur! JH

There does seem to be a lot of senior citizens that gamble. You've got me curious now how many of them actually subscribe to your theory. Hmmm I always thought senior citizens were quite conservative! LOL

As far as inflation goes, actually general inflation over the past 10 years has been quite low. The casinos are simply doing a much better job of maxing their revenues than in the past, much to our detrement.
